The Gruffalo is coming...

10:38am Wednesday 20th August 2008

Watch out kids, the Gruffalo is coming! Tall Stories Theatre Company bring their critically acclaimed adaptation of the popular children’s story to the Watermans Arts Centre as part of an exciting programme of children’s theatre for the Autumn season.

The Gruffalo, written by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, tells the story of Mouse’s perilous journey into the woods and his eventual meeting with the terrifying Gruffalo. A talented cast of three bring to life this modern fairy tale in a highly physical performance described by The Times as “an irresistibly charming tale told with refreshing simplicity”.

The show, suitable for kids aged three and over, comes to Watermans on Sunday, September 21, for a 3pm performance - be sure to book early.

Other highlights include Long Nose Puppet Theatre’s Flyaway Katie which kicks off the new season on Sunday, September 14, and Chocolate Thunder, the new show by the Flying Gorillas on October 12.

There is also plenty of opportunity for kids to get involved, with workshops and drama groups galore on offer. In the October half-term there is a Drama Zone group for eight to 13 year olds and from September 10 to December 17 there will be weekly street dance sessions leds by Watermans’ resident community dance coach.

For more information and for a full line-up of shows and workshops, visit watermans.org.uk or phone the box office on 020 8232 1010.
